Ethics- the principle and morals that govern people's behavior. An example of good ethics would be honesty or showing respect to others. Our ethics are also constantly changing. What someone found inappropriate 100 years ago may seem appropriate today.
Online ethics- all you have to know here is that you should take the same principles you use in everyday life and apply them to the online world. Most people misconstrue the term online to just a computer or a laptop. While that is being online there is more to it like cell phones, tablets, iPhone, etc. If you wouldn't do something face to face don't do it in a text either.
Digital citizenship- a safe, responsible, and ethical approach to functioning in the digital world. All this is saying is what I told you earlier, just be yourself and apply good ethics and morals online. Don't try to be someone your not, just act like you would if you were doing something face to face.
Privacy- respect the privacy of others online. Now this doesn't mean if your buddy scored a touchdown in a football game and you want to share that information that it's wrong to share it. But on the other hand if his parents are fighting and he is on your couch don't tell the world about it
Self expression and identity- Present yourself honestly and genuinely in an online world. That pretty much explains itself . Don't pretend to be Billy Bob Joehancin, when your Frank Sr.
Connected Culture- Treating others kindly and respectfully while avoiding cyber bullying. Again pretty much self explanatory, diversity is everywhere so embrace it. As for cyber bullying it is a person who bullies on the internet, don't be one.
Respecting creative work- cite the work you find online and give credit where credit is due.Don't steal others work. Not only is it disrespectful it's illegal.
So in conclusion this all revolves around two basic concepts. Be yourself online and off, and be kind to others at all times.
We also learned about Animoto which is a website that allows you to take information and put it into a type of motion picture with music. Well I'm not very good at explaining so here is a link to the site
While using Animoto we were asked to make a presentation on Digital citizenship. I have posted the one I made just below here.
All the photos from this Animoto came from Flickr. This is an amazing creative commons photo site.
Here is a photo of the Animoto icon.

This is really good, I love your animoto video.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog. I personally enjoyed the part with Billy Bob Joehancin. I also like how detailed you described the terms.
ReplyDeleteWhere you put the example of the football game, you said "wrong to." i would have put wrong to do so.
Other than that I really liked it. :)
